After You by Jojo Moyes
How do you move on after losing the person you loved? How do you build a life worth living?
This book picks up a few months after Will Traynor dies and Lou is trying to live life after losing Will. Lou is living in London working at a bar in the airport. She is staying in an apartment funded by the money from Will. She’s trying to live life but she misses Will and can’t seem to get out of this funk.
Until Lou gets into an accident that has her sent back home to recover.
After spending time at home and recovering, Lou wants to return to London but only after agreeing to get some counseling. She attends a Moving On support group.
This is where she meets Sam Fielding. He’s a paramedic and was the one that was there when she fell off the roof. She starts hanging out with Sam but is not able to open up because she still loves Will.
Another special surprise comes up that puts Lou’s life in tumbles. She meets Will’s daughter, Lily, that he never knew about. She’s a teenage girl who has a troubled life of drugs. Lou sorts of bonds with her.
Then a shocking event unfolds where Will’s daughter is missing. We find out she was blackmailed with a sexy photo and from an old acquaintance of her parents.
Lou basically drops everything to help Lily.
Not my best summary of this book. I had a hard time reading this book. The beginning was hard to get through because I just finished the first book, so starting this was hard after the emotional end of Me Before You. It got a little interesting with the surprise of Lily and her problems but Lou still frustrates me! She basically is not living and she turned down that New York job because of Lily, who seems like she doesn’t appreciate Lou at all.
Plus there was Sam. He was sweet and everything even with the small misunderstanding. I loved Lou with Will but Sam was just as great towards the end.
